On the 10th of March 1832 James Robert Eastwood of 69 Park Street Dundalk, Farmer and Jaunting Car Keeper was committed to the Sheriffs' Prison in Dublin at the Suit of Joseph Elphinson of The Merches Dundalk for the sum of 2 -6s -2d.

 

James Robert Eastwood was first cousin to James Eastwood of Castletown House Dundalk and first cousin to John James Bigger of Falmore Hall Co Louth

 

To have himself released from the prison James Robert Eastwood filed for bankruptcy, and a schedule of his financial affairs was taken, his debts amounted to about 820. The total number of creditors and debtors was one hundred and fourteen. He was declared to be insolvent and released.
