The Annals of County Louth
The following genealogy, based on ancient Irish manuscript sources, traces
the ancestry of Cinaeth Mac Croinghille (died 976 A.D.), King of the
Conaille Muirtheimhne, back through Conaille Anghlonnach, from whom the
Conaille Muirtheimhne were named, and back to his
roots in
Múscraighe and the ancestor of the Conaille dynasty, Aonghus Tuirmheach.
Unfortunately, there are three
different versions of the ancestry of Conaille Anghlonnach to be found in
the Mac Fhirbhis genealogies, all of which are represented in the versions
below.

THE TERRITORY OF THE CONAILLE MUIRTHEIMHNE
The only
information that this writer has been able to find relating to the borders
of the lands occupied by the Conaille Muirtheimhne is the they were in
"North Louth" and this is represented in the map below. Although it has been
included, it is unlikely that the territory stretched into the Carlingford
peninsula as this area was occupied by other tribes. Accordingly, the writer
would be pleased to receive any definite information on the limits of the
land of the Conaille Muirtheimhne.
